Elyse is first and foremost an evidence based practitioner - this means that the therapeutic approach you can expect when working with her is grounded in science. Whilst psychology is a science, it is also an art, and the art is in working with you to get clear on the specific problems you are experiencing, the parts of yourself you wish to grow and improve, and pairing this with the relevant psychological approaches.
Your initial session will be spent getting clear on what you want to achieve in therapy. Some people will know quite clearly what they are seeking support with, however, sometimes you might know something is 'off' in your life or within yourself, and part of the first session will be gaining clarity on this.
It is ideal initially for you to have a few appointments in close succession, weekly ideally or at least fortnightly for the first 4 sessions. As we progress, session frequency will be adjusted accordingly.
